English Language Adapted 8/9
These ELA courses are adapted for language considerations, but cover most of the content in the regular English 8/9 curriculum. Time will be spent on developing students’ communication skills so that they will be successful in the regular English classroom.
English Language Adapted 10
This course is designed for student at ESL levels 3 and 4. The course is adapted for language considerations, providing students with additional support before entering regular English. This course does provide students with graduation credit for English 10. Students are required to write the English 10 Provincial Examination at the end of the course.
This course is designed for students who require development and refinement of their writing skills. It provides students with additional support and practice in preparation for English 11 and 12. Students will focus on the process of writing, including practical writing skills. The development of a variety of compositions will be explored. Composition 11 is available to all Grade 11 and Grade 12 students needing assistance in developing proficiency in written communication.
We strongly recommend this course for students with an ESL background. Students enrolled in English Language Adapted 10/ English 11 are required to take this course to provide them with the additional support that they will need to be successful.
