SCHOOL-WIDE SIESTA CHALLENGE
As you may know, Moscrop’s two main school goals are LITERACY and MENTAL HEALTH. Our school community has plenty of reasons to pride itself on academic excellence, but there is still a lot more we can do to bring the topic of mental health to the forefront. The Spanish Club hopes to help this cause by inviting all students and staff to take part in Moscrop’s very first SIESTA challenge, running from Monday Nov. 22 until Friday Dec. 10! A SIESTA, also known as a short afternoon nap or period of relaxation, is a Hispanic tradition. In countries like Spain, businesses are shut down from 2-5pm to allow workers a break from their duties so that they can come back refreshed and ready to work better. A 10–30-minute nap has been shown to boost cognitive performance and productivity, reduce stress and better mood and energy levels. Check out the posters around the school or @mssspanish on Instagram for more information on how to participate. There will be prizes!
Happy Siestas everyone!
